LET THE ACTS ADVENTURE BEGIN!!
I invite you to join me on an adventure as we read together through the book of Acts in the
Bible. Each day we will read a few verses and I will note some things I see and invite you to
do the same. Remember - it is ok to bring all your questions - fears and doubts on this
journey. By the way - Each day as you open your bible invite the Spirit of God to open
your heart and mind. Let the adventure begin!

DAY 8 READ Acts 4:1-22
Once again we read that simple five word phrase - "Filled with the Holy Spirit." This
is the key that gives witness to the truth of Jesus Christ. There is something about
this Holy Spirit that stirs in peoples hearts and gives them the passion and the
words to speak about Jesus Christ! I have seen the power of this Holy Spirit at work
this last week as I have walked with families at the time of death. The tears were
there and so was the hope! These were families that had and were being filled with
the Holy Spirit. A Spirit that brought them comfort! A Spirit that gave them strength
for each day! A Spirit that pointed them to the promise of the resurrection in Jesus
the Christ! Also in the reading did you notice that this same Holy Spirit is bringing
more and more people to faith. WOW! I have been praying for our 9th grade
confirmation youth! I pray that they will be filled with the Holy Spirit! I pray that the
Spirit will help them see just who this Jesus is! Come Holy Spirit upon these young
people and the faith community called Atonement! Come ! Come! It is the Holy
Spirit that calls us to Jesus! It is the Holy Spirit that ENLIGHTENS Us - helps us to
understand who this Jesus is. It is the Holy Spirit that GATHERS us together for
worship, prayer, study and service! It is the Holy Spirit that SACTIFIES us - makes
us more and more like Jesus Christ! Come Holy Spirit to the families that are in
sorrow because of the death of a loved one and bring them Jesus Christ who gives
them peace!!
